Physiotherapy for frozen shoulder, rotator cuff pain and shoulder instability
Simple, scientific advice
Jared Powell is an experienced physiotherapist with an interest in shoulder pain. Jared is currently completing his PhD in shoulder pain at Bond University, where he is also a visiting lecturer and tutor.
Evidence based care for you and your shoulder
Jared Powell utilises best practice interventions that have been studied in scientific experiments. Jared aims to provide a reasoned, logical and effective management plan for you and your shoulder.
Jared will accept tertiary referrals from surgeons, sports physicians, GP's and other health care professionals.
Jared will be conducting 1 hour long form consultations. This will allow a thorough history, physical examination and management plan to be devised.
Consultations will be conducted out of Physio Place, a well established and reputable clinic in Tweed Heads.
There is hope
At Jared Powell Shoulder Physiotherapy, we offer the only dedicated tertiary referral centre dedicated to those with Frozen Shoulder (FS). FS can be a disabling condition that can affect all aspects of daily living, including sleep, basic household tasks and recreational activities. Frustratingly, there is a lack of understanding of FS worldwide and especially how to manage this condition. Jared has synthesised the entire scientific literature regarding FS and can offer evidence based advice, education and intervention on how to best manage this painful condition.
ROTATOR CUFF PAIN
Rotator cuff pain and pain pathology can include:
Rotator cuff tendinopathy/tendonitis
Rotator cuff tear
Partial thickness tear
Full thickness tear
Long head of biceps pain
Rotator cuff pain and pathology make up 80% of all shoulder complaints. This number appears to rise with age and in people in certain occupations (such as hairdressing, painting and mechanics). However, do not despair, there is ample evidence you can manage this condition without surgery even in cases where there is large structural failure.
Expert intervention and advice
Shoulder instability remains an enigma amongst most health care professionals. There are 3 main sub-classifications of shoulder instability that are all managed very differently. It is vitally important that your shoulder is classified and diagnosed correctly in order to inform how we approach management. At Jared Powell Shoulder Physiotherapy you will be expertly diagnosed and a management plan will be formed.
